Cherie Lunghi voted off Strictly Come Dancing

Shock as John Sergeant is saved by public vote

Despite scoring 32 out of 40 Cherie Lunghi was still voted off the show

Cherie Lunghi was kicked off Strictly Come Dancing after a shock public vote last night.

The actress was put in the bottom two against Lisa Snowdon, 37, and partner Brendan Cole.

But political journalist John Sergeant, 64, who has been panned by the judges, was saved by the public vote despite being bottom of the leader board.

‘It’s hard to say goodbye to people who danced better than John,' said Arlene Phillips. 'Maybe the public don’t care because they’re having a laugh.’

Cherie, 59, was an early favourite to win after repeatedly gaining scores above 30 out of 40.
