Mum-of-4 confesses that her battle with booze is one she'll face all her life
Sunday, 9 November 2008
Kerry Katona has confessed that she has a secret problem with booze.
'Four years ago I was diagnosed as an alcoholic after a stay in The Priory clinic,' she reveals. 'This is not common knowledge as I've never admitted it before.'
After her shocking appearance on This Morning last month, Kerry denied she was half-cut and explained that her slurring was due to medication for her bi-polar disorder.
Husband Mark Croft, 37, continues to insist that Kerry was not drunk during the interview on 22 October but the mum-of-4, 28, has come clean about her alcoholism.
'This is an ongoing battle I will face for the rest of my life,' Kerry tells The People.
'During my worst drinking bouts I'd easily knock back ten to 15 shots of vodka or peach schnapps.
'I can get through days without having a drink but it's hard. I can never promise myself or my family that I can beat this addiction but I'll try bloody hard.'

I sincerly understand what kerry is going through, i am in that same place & it's so, so hard to get people to undertstand that this is not the life we choose, it's a disease & if more people were educated on that then we would not be knocked down just because we have a problem. No-one has a go at an anorexic for not eating, they try to help - alcoholism is the same thing - we all just want some support & not to be judged.
