Singer's throat infection too severe for her to be able to perform
Sunday, 9 November 2008
X Factor contestant Diana Vickers was forced to pull out of Saturday night's live show.
The singer has been suffering from a throat infection and didn't recover in time for the Mariah Carey-themed programme.
‘Diana lost her voice on Tuesday and couldn't sing a note,’ a source said last week. ‘She's dosed up on medication and just hopes she'll regain it.’
Unfortunately, that didn't happen and Diana also stayed in bed while the others rehearsed with heroine Mariah.
Despite her disappointment, the 17-year-old has been allowed to continue as a contestant.
Before this week's X Factor, Dannii Minogue, 37, asked fellow judges to be kinder to Daniel Evans, 38.
‘It just kills Daniel every time they come at him with personal and really cutting remarks,' she told the Daily Mirror.
‘Daniel is a sensitive guy. He takes to heart what they say, especially Simon Cowell. They’re cruel.’
The chat must have had an affect because on the 8 November show, Simon told Daniel that his performance 'wasn't bad'. The dad-of-three was also saved by the viewers who put Laura White and Ruth Lorenzo in the bottom 2.
After the sing-off, the judges sent a crushed Laura home.
