Diana Vickers has come close to quitting The X Factor

Mum Ann Vickers says her daughter is homesick

Diana Vickers is one of the favourites to win the singing competition

Diana Vickers has thought about dropping out of The X Factor, according to her mum Ann.

The singer, 17, is finding it difficult being away from her family and student boyfriend Chris Jones, 18, in Blackburn.

‘Diana’s been very homesick, especially when the show started,’ says Ann, 56.

‘It was quite emotional – she’s never been away from home like this before and on top of the singer pressure, she’s had to adjust to living without us.

‘There were times when she’d get upset and question what she was doing on the show.

'She’s a bag of nerves before the performances but she’s stuck through it all and we’ve very proud.’

Diana is being mentored by Cheryl Cole, 25.
