Angry Adrian White blames false stories for ruining her chances
Sunday, 9 November 2008
The dad of The X Factor’s Laura White - eliminated in Saturday night's show - says she'd become the victim of a vicious campaign to stop her from winning.
After the 21-year-old student got through to the live finals, 3 damaging stories circulated in the tabloids tarnishing her public image.
‘There was one story saying Laura’s dating an X Factor executive. She’s not,’ dad Adrian, 50, a builder’s merchant from Bolton, tells Now.
‘Another story appeared in the papers saying she was under contract to Matt Aitken [a producer who worked with Pete Waterman as part of Stock, Aitken and Waterman], but she isn’t.
‘Then there was another story saying she was going to walk out of the show because she was homesick. She may have been a little homesick, but she’s not a quitter.’
Each of the rumours has had a thread of truth. Laura’s reported to be dating businessman Mathew Firsht, 38, who runs the company that provides audiences to attend live recordings of shows such as The X Factor. Sources at the ITV1 show confirm, however, that Mathew has no influence on the programme.
Laura was briefly signed with Matt Aitken – but that was 5 years ago. ‘He signed her when she was 16,’ says Adrian. ‘They didn’t put out any singles and he shelved his interest because other projects came up.
‘And as for walking out, that’s absurd. I’ve never known anyone so determined.'
Laura was clearly shocked to leave The X Factor on Saturday and couldn't speak to host Dermot O'Leary. Her dad will be devastated, too.

I agree with the above with regards to the shoddy and pathetic thing Louie and Simon did, however have the british public truely lost there minds? Two great singers in the sing off?We need to stop giving the sypathy vote out all the time as if we all lived on dwelling on the past and people we loved I'd have won X factor every year and be a millionaire, come on! Daniel I am sorry is not an X-Factor winner The X-factor winner is someone who is versitile and can appeal to a wide range of people not just my gran. It's about time we all look and vote using our heads rather then our hearts and be the better judge as the 4 on the pannel clearly don't have a clue! Laura you will go far and you didn't need this show as your talent will shine whereever you are!
I USE TO ENJOY THE X FACTOR BUT OVER THE LAST 2 YEARS I AM SICK OF THE JUDGES VOTING OFF GOOD TALENT JUST TO SAVE THEIR OWN ACTS. LOUIS WALSH VOTED LAURA OFF BECAUSE SHE WAS A SERIOUS THREAT TO HIS ONLY ACT THAT IS LEFT IN. IT SHOULD HAVE GONE TO A DEAD LOCK. I ALSO AGREE WITH THE COMMENTS MADE ABOUT SYMPATHY VOTING. I WISH THE BRITISH PUBLIC WOULD VOTE FOR THE TALENT AND NOT THE TEAR AND SOB STORIES.
Come on Louis huge mistake..... Tactical voting it stinks... She has an amazing talent.
I LOVED LAURA SHES THE BEST SINGER EVERRR. SHE WAS SUCH AN IDOL, THERES NO POINT IN EVEN WTACHING IT ANYMORE. RUTH CANT EVEN SING FOR GODS SAKE! WELL SHE CAN BUT LAURAS WAY BETTER! I WANT HER BACK! :) Wont be the same without herr! typical. and louis only voted for ruth because of cheryls comment which is NT fair!
I Think Its Pathetic Wat Simon & Louie Did-The Only Reasons They Voted Laura Out Was Because A.She Was Gonna Win & Beat Them & B. To Get Back At Cheryl For Actually Having A brain& Expressing Opinion (Unlike A Certain Miss Danni M Who Does Everything Shes Told To Do) Grow Up Guys It Should Be About The Talent Not Ur Bloody Egos!!!

1 lucky reader will win a DVD player plus a copy of the DVD. 5 runners-up will get a copy of the DVD!
