Friday, 17 October 2008
Alexander Armstrong is said to have verbally accepted an offer to join cult quiz Countdown.
The 38-year-old comedian is best known for his Pimm’s adverts.
‘Alexander was delighted to be offered the job and can’t wait to get started,’ a source tells The Mirror.
‘He is a big fan of the show and want to make his mark on it. The hope is he will bring in a whole new audience to the much-loved show.’
Alexander replaces Des O'Connor, 76.
A replacement for Carol Vorderman has yet to be found.
