Strictly Come Dancing star to leave hospital drama
Monday, 6 October 2008
Tom Chambers has announced that he's leaving hit BBC! hospital drama Holby City.
The actor, 31, who is currently staring in Strictly Come Dancing, has played registrar Sam Strachan for the past 2 years.
‘I was worried about telling the bosses,’ he tells The Sun. ‘But I wrote a long letter to the producers explaining my decision and they were incredibly nice about it.
‘Sam has gone through so much in the past year with his cancer – it seemed like the perfect time to make the break. Then Strictly came along!’
Tom, who is said to have been offered several other projects including a West End show, will exit in a dramatic Christmas storyline.
‘Tom’s departure will leave his fans in tears,’ a source reveals. ‘But Holby bosses are keeping tight-lipped about whether or not Sam will be killed off.’
Tom is currently one of the favourites to win Strictly Come Dancing after his dances with partner Camilla Dallerup wowed the judges.
He is set to marry fiancée Clare Harding, 26, on 19 October.
