John Barrowman says he's more attracted to British than American men

Doctor Who star John Barrowman has revealed that even as a child he knew he was different.

The gay actor says he was drawn towards other boys at school but dated girls to disguise his sexuality.

‘I’d secretly peek at other boys in the shower when I knew that I shouldn’t,’ he says.

‘I would look at a dirty magazine and I would feel drawn to the guy rather than the girl. His bits were more interesting than hers.’

John, 41, says he went to great lengths to fit in as a teenager.

‘I’d date girls, dance with them, go for dinner,’ he tells Observer Woman magazine. ‘But I used to panic when I was on her doorstep and I’d have to kiss her.’
