Comedian to take over the reins on annual singing show
Sunday, 31 August 2008
Graham Norton is being lined up as the new host of the Eurovision Song Contest.
Terry Wogan, 70, has presented the show since it began in 1972, but he's quit in protest at political voting.
‘Terry will be sorely missed. [But] luckily there's a brilliant replacement in Graham. He has a similar wicked sense of humour,’ a source tells Daily Star Sunday.
Graham, 45, has a £2.5 million 'golden handcuffs' deal with the BBC.
‘He will do the job as part of his existing contract,’ the insider adds. ‘There’s no need to spend more money bringing in another big name.’
The camp comedian currently hosts his own chat show The Graham Norton Show on BBC1.
