Muscleman returns to ask his girlfriend to marry him

Mario Marconi had to propose to Lisa Appleton through the window

Big Brother 9 contestant Mario Marconi returned to the house on Sunday – to ask his girlfriend Lisa Appleton to marry him.

The housemates were each given treats from Big Brother – and they were shocked to see the muscleman standing in the garden as Lisa’s present.

Mario, 43, had to use written messages to propose as Big Brother refused to open the doors for the couple.

The cards spelled out: ‘Lisa - I am very sorry - to say you're single - no more - as I have spoken - to your Daddy - therefore I would like to - marry you?’

The housemates looked on as an emotional Lisa mouthed 'yes' and planted a kiss on the patio doors.

The pair, who have been together 3 years, are the first couple to appear on the show.

Mario was evicted 6 weeks ago while Lisa, 40, still has a shot at the £100,000 prize.
