Plans for Sunday X Factor show scrapped

Simon Cowell clashes with producers over second weekly show

Simon Cowell likes the spontaneity of live X Factor shows

The X Factor bosses have shelved plans to have another live show on Sunday nights.

Creator Simon Cowell, 48, wanted the results programme to go up against BBC1 rival Strictly Come Dancing, which launched its successful pre-recorded second show last year.

But he’s said to have clashed with ITV and producers at TalkbackThames because he wanted the Sunday show to go out live – which would have cost an extra £500,000 a week.

‘We will be sticking to Saturday nights and staying live,’ a source tells The Sun. ‘The X Factor is not like other shows.

'You’ll have things like a judge walking out — like Sharon Osbourne last year. We could not have pre-recorded as you would miss out on all the action.’

The X Factor returns to ITV1 in September.
