Comedian says show bosses are concerned he'll offend viewers
Wednesday, 30 July 2008
Russell Brand has revealed that MTV bosses are keeping him on a tight-leash as he prepares to host the Video Music Awards in LA in September.
But the comedian – who was sacked from the channel after turning up for work dressed as Osama Bin Laden the day after 9/11 – fears he won’t be able to control himself.
‘I've been warned there are 2 things I am never allowed to say,’ he says. ‘C*** and Scientology. There is a sentence that could join both of those words but I'm going to say it.'
Russell, 32, is hoping the job will help boost his popularity in the States.
‘People say: "You must enjoy it that no one knows you're famous in America,"’ he tells the Daily Mirror. ‘But I hate it. Without fame this haircut makes me look like someone who has a mental illness.
‘I want everyone to know who I am. I've prostituted YouTube so much I call it MeTube now.’

Okay, now I know scientology is vulgar and offensive, but why must mention of it be banned? Why is it okay to make jokes about REAL religions when you can't say anything about that ridiculous little cult? Are we not still in the United States with freedom of speech that so many fought and died to provide for us? F* that CULT!!!! I hope Russ rips them a new one anyway!!!!
GO RUSSELL BRAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Scientology is a filthy cult. You can sue me now if you like for mentioning cult and scientology in the same sentence. It changes nothing. Scientology is a greedy cult. Hungry for money and power and nothing else. Prove me wrong, scientology, prove me wrong.
