This Morning presenter still reeling from effects of lying about weight loss surgery
Tuesday, 8 July 2008
Fern Britton has agreed to stay at ITV for another 2 years – but the controversial star won't be getting a penny extra in her new contract.
The TV presenter was heavily criticised last month for lying about having gastric band surgery, instead misleading viewers into believing her weight loss was due to diet and exercise.
This Morning bosses think her actions ‘damaged the show’, reports the News Of The World.
It's thought Fern’s salary will be frozen at £600,000-a-year while co-presenter Phillip Schofield, 46, has agreed to stay for a reported £1.6million.
Phil will also present Dancing On Ice while Fern, 50, will host another series of Mr And Mrs.
‘We expect her to be with us for some time,’ an ITV spokesman confirmed.

I will not watch this morning ever again untill anew presenter replaces fern britton, I respected her determination in losing weight, I thought she was an honest and freindly presenter but not anymore! she did not admit the truth about her gastric band and she did not appoligise,
i think people should leave fern a lone it has nothing to do with any one if she chooses to have a gastric band . maybe people need to think about comments that are writen about peoples weight cos maybe thats why she felt she had to get the band done and i still think she is one of the best presenters this morning has ever had
