Actor plans to leave after 30 years of playing Jack Duckworth
Monday, 16 June 2008
Coronation Street star Bill Tarmey has announced that he intends to retire next year.
The 67-year-old actor has played Jack Duckworth in the soap for 29 years – and he says he'll leave when he reaches his 30th anniversary.
His decision to go follows the departure of co-star Liz Dawn – who played his on-screen wife Vera.
‘He’s looking forward to being out at his place in Tenerife,’ a friend tells the News Of The World.
Liz left the show in January after Vera was killed off in some of the most emotional scenes in Corrie's history.
