Rob Lowe has filed a lawsuit against his former babysitter, claiming she tried to extort $1.5 million – around £800,000 – from him.
Yesterday, the actor posted a blog detailing the nanny's alleged attempts to spite Rob and his wife Sheryl by spreading 'a vicious laundry list of false terribles' if her demand was not met.
'My family is devastated by this betrayal,' writes Rob in his post on The Huffington Times. 'This woman worked in our home and travelled with us off and on for seven years, without complaint.'
Rob, 44, filed his complaint yesterday in LA.
'We live in a time where public figures are targets,' he says. 'But I also know of many people in everyday life who are paying the price of a climate where anyone can accuse anybody of anything, anytime and hope for a big cash pay-off at the end.
'"Hush money" to just go away. Well I won't go away. No one intimidates my family.'
The Brothers & Sisters star has also filed a complaint against former chef Pete Clements, who he alleges had sex in his bed, stole prescription drugs, broke security cameras and overcharged the family for food.
Brothers & Sisters is on E4, Sundays at 11pm.
