Kate Garraway forgot to pay road tax

Kate Garraway’s car has been crushed – because she forgot to pay the road tax.

The GMTV presenter, 39, injured herself during training for Strictly Come Dancing so hadn't driven the VW Beetle for a while.

The motor was left parked near her North London home.

But Kate did not realise the tax was overdue. It was initially clamped, then taken to a car pound, before being crushed a week later.

‘Kate has been in agony with tendonitis and was banned from driving by her doctor,’ a pal tells The Sun.

‘So the car was just sitting around the corner. She didn’t even know it had been taken until a few days ago and really thought it was still at the pound.

‘Kate is gutted, she really loved that car, it must be worth about £10,000 and there were personal items in it.’
