Mark Speight’s fiancée suffered 60 per cent burns after drugs binge
Thursday, 3 April 2008
Mark Speight’s fiancée Natasha Collins died in a scalding bath, according to an inquest at Westminster Coroner's Court yesterday.
Dr Paul Knapman said that the BBC TV kids show host suffered 60 per cent burns on her body after taking part in a drugs binge with the SMart presenter.
She is believed to have consumed 5 times the lethal amount of cocaine the night before, which resulted in her losing consciousness after getting in the bath.
Dr Paul Knapman recorded a verdict of misadventure.
‘In the privacy of their flat, they had embarked on adventurous behaviour, ignoring the risks and she has suffered the consequences by the ending of her life,’ he told the court.
‘Even if the hot tap had not been going, she took sufficient cocaine to kill.’
Natasha, 31, was found dead in the couple’s London flat on 3 January.
Mark, 42, who attended the inquest, issued a joint statement with her mother Carmen yesterday.
'Natasha was a loving daughter, fiancée, sister and friend with a very positive attitude towards life. She will always remain in our hearts.'
