Lily Allen: I felt grotesque but I’m over it

The feisty singer reveals all about her body crisis and that cat fight with Cheryl Cole

Two weeks ago, a tearful Lily Allen was sitting alone in her Seattle hotel room, branding herself fat and ugly on her MySpace page.

Her confidence was destroyed after she was compared to supermodel Kate Moss – and then found out that Girls Aloud’s Cheryl Cole had called her a ‘chick with a dick’.

‘I was angry,’ she says. ‘I thought: “Who the hell do you think you are?” All she does is sing songs that aren’t hers, do sexy dance moves and marry someone rich.'

Lily, 22, slammed Cheryl as a ‘stupid bitch’, but 24 hours later, Cheryl told Lily to keep her ‘big mouth’ shut and suggested she'll never get to play a big arena tour like Girls Aloud. Lily finds this laughable.

‘I played Wembley Arena twice last year and I’m playing Wembley Stadium in a couple of months,’ she shrugs. ‘I’m in America, where I’ve sold more than 500,000 albums.'

Lily’s success in the US is a milestone that Girls Aloud can only dream about, but Lily’s too busy to care. ‘I plan to live in Manhattan for a few months and work on my second album,' she reveals. 'If she slags me off again, I’m not going to retaliate. I haven’t got time…’
