Rupert Everett hasn't cooked for 25 years

Actor shuns the kitchen after disastrous dinner party

Rupert Everett hasn't lifted a finger in the kitchen for 25 years.

The actor, who starred in The Next Best Thing, says he eats out all the time and he gave up hosting dinner parties after a disastrous do at a rented house in Hollywood.

'I go out for dinner every night and I love it,' the 47-year-old says. 'I love going to the same restaurant every day, having the same food every day.'

And he hasn't served up a meal for his friends since the 1981 disaster. 'A storm blew up and the terrace was blown in through the windows,' he announced at the Cheltenham Literature Festival.

'Then there was a fire caused by candles. The place was full of smoke. It all went wrong.'
