Harry Potter star stays in New York
Monday, 13 October 2008
Daniel Radcliffe did not attend his grandmother's funeral on Monday – but he believes she would approve of his decision.
The Harry Potter star, who is starring in Equus on Broadway, decided not to fly back to the UK because Elsie Radcliffe taught him to honour work commitments.
The 79-year-old - his father Alan's mum - died earlier this month following a long illness.
‘It's been a very difficult time but Dan chose to remain in New York after discussions with his family,’ his spokeswoman tells the Daily Mirror. ‘They decided that it was what his grandmother would have wanted.
‘She was a strong supporter of him and his career and she wouldn't have wanted him to miss a performance.’
In Equus, Daniel, 19, plays a disturbed young stablehand who goes full frontal in one scene.
