Actor thought to be getting his affairs in order
Friday, 8 August 2008
Paul Newman is said to be preparing his family for his death following treatment for cancer.
The Oscar-winning actor has finished his final session of chemotherapy at a New York hospital.
And insiders say he wants to pass away peacefully at home with his wife Joanne Woodward, 78, and his children.
'Paul didn't want to die in the hospital,' a source reveals.
'Joanne and his daughters are beside themselves with grief.'
It is thought Paul, 83, has been getting his affairs in order, much to the distress of his 5 kids.
‘It's especially hard for them to come to grips with what's going on,’ the pal tells the Daily Mail.
‘The word they've been given is that he has only a few weeks to live.'
Paul was reportedly diagnosed with cancer 18 months ago. He has never commented on his illness - except to say he was 'doing nicely'.
He is dad to 3 girls by Joanne, and has 2 daughters from his marriage to Jackie Witte.

I am so sad about this tragic news. Mr. Newman gave us great entertainment and is a role model of how to do right while a part of Hollywood. He is one of the most generous, kind and considerate of all actors. The world will miss him. I hope that the cancer will disappear so that we can have him with us for a longer time.
You've been "Mr. Cool Hand" all my life. In the art of entertainment you've been one great unique actor and has a person "one of a kind". Wishing you a MIRACLE, so Myself, your family and the world can enjoy your presence.
My condolences go out to his Family and close Friends ~ Paul will be missed dearly and always be apart of us...
