Daniel Radcliffe compares Harry Potter film to Trainspotting

Actor says The Half Blood Prince has a dark side

Wednesday, 2 July 2008

Daniel Radcliffe has likened the latest Harry Potter flick to Trainspotting.

The actor, 18, says fans can expect a darker tone in the next movie instalment about the boy wizard.

‘There’s a fair amount of sexual energy and drug parallels,' he tells Empire.

‘We have a couple of Trainspotting moments. That’s 2 films I never thought would be mentioned in the same breath.

‘There's a great balance. The light parts are lighter than before, and the dark parts are extremely dark.’

And director David Yates agrees with Dan: ‘We’re opening with a big attack. We’ll bring a major London landmark crashing down.’

Trainspotting was released in 1996 and starred Ewan McGregor as a herion addict.

Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince is released in November.
