Kym Ryder: Jack is not a kept man

Corrie star fed up of people thinking hubby doesn't work

Kym Ryder has hit out at critics who believe her husband, former EastEnders star Jack Ryder, lives off her earnings.

Jack, 26, played Jamie Mitchell in the soap, and his deathbed scene was watched by 16 million viewers in 2002. But because we haven't seen him on screen since, it's often presumed he's sponging off Kym, 30.

'That's so not the case,' she fumes. 'Just because he's not on TV five nights a week, people think he's not working. That couldn't be further from the truth.

'Because he went into EastEnders at just 17 years old, he wanted to experience other aspects of the acting world so he's chosen to stay away from TV.'

In fact, Jack's been touring the country for the last six months performing in the play The Safari Party.

'He's got a really heavy schedule and loves every minute of it,' she tells Sunday magazine. 'But it gets quite annoying when people think I'm the main breadwinner when clearly I'm not. It's very equal.'
