Couple headed for trouble over his broken promises

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes tied the knot in Rome in November 2006

Withdrawn from the world, isolated Katie Holmes has got to the sad stage where she no longer believes that her husband Tom Cruise will fulfil his promises to her.

Friends say his attempts to appease his wife by supporting her while she filmed thriller Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark in Australia have been unsuccessful and the pair are fighting for their marriage.

‘It's their third wedding anniversary on 18 November and they're at an all-time low,' says a source close to the couple.

‘The main conflict is between Katie's career and Tom's desperation for another child. The sad reality is that they're not on the same page and want completely different things out of life.

‘Katie's sick of Tom's broken promises and wants to walk away for good if the situation doesn't improve.'

Insiders tell Now that Tom, 47, and Katie, 31, are having crisis talks, with a split looking like a very real possibility.
