John Mayer: 'Tween counselor for Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato

Singer understands pressures of social networking

Sure John Mayer is Twitter obsessed, but that doesn't mean he can't see why somebody else would want off the social network.   

Last week Miley Cyrus, deleted her Twitter account citing a desire to keep her ‘private life private' and stating in her last Tweet that rumored beau Liam Hemsworth wanted her to delete her account.

  ‘She's smart enough to realize there is some interference of the brain that she doesn't want to deal with,' Mayer, who just celebrated his 32nd birthday, told MTV. ‘I think if you're in Miley's situation, it might take a little too much time to play goalie for your own heart and mind.'

  But don't worry Twitter fans, Mayer assures he won't be deleting his account anytime soon.

  To Demi Lovato, who Mayer worked with on the track ‘World of Chances' for her album Here We Go Again, he offers more than just opinion. ‘When you're young and you're a star, just keep writing, keep working, keep developing,' he says. ‘Demi has a huge career in front of her ... depending on the decisions she makes in her life.'   

And though he recognizes that it's, ‘difficult to be seen in the public and continue to be vulnerable as an artist,' he says that at, ‘16 or 17 you gotta keep learning, [even if] people are watching you.'
