Madonna’s adopted son David Banda reconnected with his real dad yesterday – but asked him ‘who are you?’
The three-year-old failed to recognise Yohane Banda and had to talk through an interpreter during the trip to the Kumbali Lodge in Malawi.
‘He asked me in English who I was and what I do,’ he says. ‘When I told him, “I am your daddy” he looked surprised.
‘We spent three hours together... he played with my nose and although he did not know who I was he asked me lots of questions. He asked me why I am poor.’
Yohane, who put David in an orphanage after his biological mum died, is impressed with the way Madonna, 50, has brought him up.
‘I sometimes shudder to think what would have happened to if Madonna had not rescued him,’ he tells the Daily Mirror. ‘I am really grateful to her for saving him from possible early death.'
Madonna is in Malawi to adopt another child and is due to appear in court on Friday to find out if her application has been successful.
Kids Lourdes, 12, and Rocco, 8, have also joined her for the trip.
