Ashlee Simpson joins cast of new Melrose Place

Singer will play main character who has a secret

Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz are parents to Bronx Mowgli

Ashlee Simpson is to star in the remake of Melrose Place.

The singer will play the lead character Violet, a small-town girl who moves to LA with a secret.

‘I'm thrilled to be joining the cast of Melrose Place,’ Ashlee tells Us Weekly.

‘I look forward to being a part of its new generation of residents.’

Ashlee and her husband Pete Wentz, 29, will appear in a CSI: New York episode, which airs in the States on 18 March.

Ashlee, 24, was also a regular in two seasons of US drama 7th Heaven.

The original Melrose Place ran between 1992 and 1999.
