Britney Spears kicks off Circus tour in New Orleans

Singer descends from sky to perform over 20 songs

Britney Spears was supported by the Pussycat Dolls

Britney Spears wowed fans last night as she took to the stage in New Orleans.

The singer kicked off her world tour by descending from the roof on an apparatus, belting out her hit single Circus.

Despite her vigorous performance, which lasted for an hour and 40 minutes, she was accused of miming by US blogger Perez Hilton.

‘Let's get our biggest gripe/problem with the show out of the way,’ he writes.

‘Yes, she lipsynchs during the entire concert. There is no live singing. None!

'She recorded vocals to "sound like" live, but they were all canned, pre-taped.

'However, it's a Britney Spears show. You expect that!’

Brit, 27, ended the evening with Womanizer and spoke to the audience.

‘Thank you New Orleans, I love you guys,’ she said. ‘Did y'all have a good time? Thank you so much.’
