Alexandra Burke has landed a £3million recording contract with top US label Epic.

The X Factor 2008 winner is reported to have signed a 5-album deal with the company, which has been behind the success of Beyoncé Knowles, 27, and Rihanna, 20.

Epic think Alexandra can follow in Leona Lewis’s footsteps,’ a source tells The Sun. ‘The US market loves women with big voices — and Alex certainly has that. If she comes close to Leona’s success it will be a job well done.’

Alex, 20, is expected to meet with mentor Simon Cowell, 49, next month to outline her plan of assault on the States.

She will release her debut album in the UK in November, before launching her US chart offensive in the New Year.
