Bobby Brown: clean, sober and about to be a dad again

Former singer is happy to announce his girlfriend's pregnancy

Bobby Brown is looking forward to being a dad again

Bobby Brown and his girlfriend of two-and-a-half years, manager Alicia Etheridge, are expecting their first child together, he confirms to PEOPLE.

'I'm really excited about my new addition to my family,' says Brown, who plans to celebrate his 40th birthday, as well as his recent sobriety, with family and friends on Thursday in Los Angeles.

'We're excited because he's in a good place – he's sober and he's very happy,' adds Brown's attorney, Phaedra Parks 'And I'm happy for Alicia and Bobby as well.'

Brown, who bitterly split with Whitney Houston in 2006, has a 15-year-old daughter with Houston. He also has two children with ex-girlfriend Kim Ward and a son with ex-girlfriend Melika Williams. This will be Etheridge's first child.
