Heath Ledger has been nominated for Best Actor In A Supporting Role at this year’s Oscars.

The late actor has been praised for his role as The Joker in Batman film The Dark Knight.

Brad Pitt , 45, is up for Best Actor In A Leading Role for his portrayal of a man ageing backwards in The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button.

The movie has earned a staggering 13 nods, while Slumdog Millionaire received 10.

Kate Winslet
, 33, will compete with Angelina Jolie, 33, Meryl Streep, 59, and Anne Hathaway, 26, in the Best Actress In A Leading Role category.
