Hollywood legend Peter Falk is suffering from Alzheimer's disease and dementia, his daughter claims.

According to legal papers filed in L.A. County Superior Court, Catherine Falk claims her father "requires full-time custodial care for his health and safety," TMZ reports.

Catherine is also reportedly worried that her dad "can easily be deceived into transferring away property," and seeks to establish a conservatorship to protect him and his assets.

A hearing on the matter is set for next month.

Falk, 81, is most famous for his role as the scatterbrained detective in the long-running Columbo. He also starred in countless films, inlcuding The Princess Bride, The Great Race and It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World.
