Comedian records humorous video for bash
Monday, 8 December 2008
Ricky Gervais accepted his British Comedy Award as he sat in bed with George Michael.
The comedian, 47, won a prize for Best Comedy Actor on Saturday for his role in Extras.
And he recorded a video which was aired at the bash, because he couldn't attend the ceremony.
‘I can't be bothered to be there in person,' Ricky quipped from beneath his duvet.
'This is beneath me to be honest: I've won real awards, Golden Globes and Emmys.'
The camera then panned out to reveal Ricky was sharing a bed with George Michael.
Speaking about the Extras Christmas Special, which he won the award for, Ricky said: ‘Gordon Ramsay plays a foul-mouthed egomaniac and George Michael plays a hairy kebab-eating drug-taking popstar who likes to look for cock in the bushes. Hardly a stretch is it?’
Russell Brand also picked up an award for Best Live Stand-up.
