Hollyoaks' Barry Sloane: People are scared of me in real life

Fans fearful of actor because of his evil soap character Niall Rafferty

Barry Sloane joined the cast of Hollyoaks in 2007

Hollyoaks star Barry Sloane has revealed fans don’t approach him in the street – because they're scared.

The 27-year-old plays serial killer hairdresser Niall Rafferty in the soap.

‘I swear they look at me and think I am going to jump them or something,’ Barry tells the Daily Star. ‘I'm really a nice guy - honest!’

Niall is currently involved in a dramatic storyline which sees him blow up his family in a revenge attack

But despite the fearful reactions he gets from people, Barry admits he loves playing baddies.

‘I love being the bad guy. I think they are much more fun to play,' he says. ‘Maybe I could go to Weatherfield and torment David Platt!’

One of the McQueen sisters dies in the explosion, which airs this week on Channel 4.
