Wayne Rooney and wife Coleen had to be picked up by emergency patrol after their car broke down on a motorway yesterday.
The footballer is said to have filled unleaded petrol into the WAG’s Range Rover Sport V8, which has a diesel engine.
Wayne, 23, was forced to park the £90,000 vehicle along a hard-shoulder on the M62, minutes after leaving the pump.
‘It’s a busy section of the motorway and the traffic was running slow, so we got a good look,’ an onlooker tells the Daily Mirror.
‘The hazard lights were flashing on the car and Wayne was standing talking to a Highways Agency patrol driver. He looked pretty sheepish.’
It is thought Wayne and Coleen, 22, will spend up to £6,000 to repair the motor.
