Guy Ritchie celebrates turning 40 with Madonna

Material Girl throws director Celtic-themed bash

Guy Ritchie didn't want to make a big fuss over turning 40

Madonna helped husband Guy Ritchie mark his 40th birthday last night – at their own pub.

They celebrated in a far more low-key style than when they partied for the Material Girl’s 50th last month and just had a few drinks at The Punchbowl in Mayfair.

But Guy seemed more than pleased with the family get-together as he gave waiting photographers a thumbs up and a cheesy grin.

The couple were joined by children Lourdes, 11, Rocco, 9, and adopted David Banda, 3, and celeb pals including Sting's wife Trudie Styler, 54, David Gest, 55, and Jamie Hince, 39.

The party had a Celtic theme and guests joined in singing traditional Irish songs.

Madge left at 10pm, reports Rex, while Guy and his pals continued until 4am.
