Diana Quick helped Bill Nighy overcome his battles with alcohol

Bill Nighy is said to be devastated after partner Diana Quick walked out after 27 years together.

Diana, 61, moved out of the London home she shared with the Love Actually star earlier this month.

It's thought they had been spending more and more time apart because of Bill's hectic workload.

'Bill’s career has taken off over the last few years, turning him into a huge star,’ says a source. 'The pair have lived increasingly separate lives and she’s been left on her own.’

But friends are worried that Bill, 58, won’t be able to cope without Diana – who he called his 'wife' even though they never married.

‘Diana has been Bill’s rock for years,’ the insider tells the News Of The World. 'They are saying publicly it's a mutual split, but the truth is that Diana got fed up with Bill and ended it.’

The couple have a daughter Mary, 24.
