Star becomes a dad for first time

Puerto Rican star Ricky Martin works as an advocate for children's charities

Latin singer Ricky Martin is the proud father of twin boys.

He had the babies via a surrogate mother earlier this month.

‘The children, delivered via gestational surrogacy, are healthy and already under Ricky's full-time care,’ says his spokesman.

‘Ricky is elated to begin this new chapter in his life as a parent and will be spending the remainder of the year out of the public spotlight in order to spend time with his children.’

Over the years, Ricky has refused to confirm or deny rumours he’s gay.

He shot to fame in the UK with his hit record Livin’ La Vida Loca in 1999.
