Madonna's adopted son hears sad news from Malawi

Madonna's adoption of David Banda was finally approved this year, after 2 years with her family

Madonna has had to break the news to adopted son David Banda that the grandmother who raised him for the first months of his life has passed away.

Asineti Mwale helped take care of the Malawi-born youngster after his mother died shortly after his birth.

The 60-year-old was admitted to hospital last week with pneumonia and died on Sunday, reports Us Weekly.

Madonna, 49, and husband Guy Ritchie, 39, found David, 2, through the Home Of Hope orphanage 2 years ago.

His adoption was approved in May.
