Amy Winehouse was diagnosed with emphysema last month

Amy Winehouse is in hospital after suffering a ‘reaction to medication’, her spokesman has confirmed.

The star was wheeled to an ambulance on a stretcher, while wearing an oxygen mask, after emergency services were called to her London home last night.

Amy, 24, who was diagnosed with lung disease emphysema last month, is now being monitored at University College Hospital. Her dad Mitch, 57, is by her side.

‘We were called at approximately 8.40pm to an address in NW1 to reports of an adult female taken unwell,’ says a London Ambulance Service spokeswoman.

‘We sent an ambulance and a fast response car and the patient has been taken to hospital.’

Some tabloids have reported that Amy suffered a fit after a suspected drugs overdose.

But spokesman Chris Goodman played down the claims last night, and insisted the Back To Black singer would be home in no time.

‘Amy Winehouse suffered a reaction to medication at home this evening and was taken to hospital,’ he tells the BBC.

‘Doctors have advised that she will be kept under observation overnight and is likely to be released tomorrow.’
