Actor wants to ensure his home is energy efficient
Friday, 25 July 2008
Johnny Depp plans to make his private island home in the Bahamas completely eco-friendly.
The actor and partner Vanessa Paradis, 35, bought the 40-acre getaway for £1.5million.
And now they want to make the isle self-sufficient with the help of some state-of-the-art technology.
Central to their plans is a £250,000 grid-independent solar hydrogen system, which transfers sunlight into electricity.
Johnny, 45, and Vanessa, who have 2 children together, also have homes in France, the UK and LA.

Johnny is really doing a great job as an actor and as a humanitarian, but also for the environment. What a great idea to get electricity supply from the sun that's most always shining in the caribbean. He is perfect in everyway. All my love to Johnny and his family!!! :-)) and thanks in the name of our earth and Al Gore!!!
Dont mean to be rude Jonny Depp comes over as a nice guy other than he once was I know he must work hard as everyone dose in what they do for a liveing but why dose he have to make shuch a big deal out of things that he dose there are lots of people all over the world who help others by going to hospitals and such with out shouting about it and makeing shur people know about it and as always followed by how much he as given what is the big deal so he got money good for him who wants to know that a gift is a gift and should stay that way with out shouting it to the world. what about the big thing made about staying by his daughters bed side all the time when the poor little girl was so ill as I said at first dont mean to be rude are sound like I am haveing a go at him lets face the facted he did no more than any other parent would do when their child is ill we all love our kids and thank god for them so come back in to the real world get on with life show your kids how much you love them for who they are and not what you can make out of them all kids need is love and to know you always be there rich or poor dose not matter family first anything else after you can always get a job but not a family he said he likes to keep his family out of the spot light so why put them in it by always talking about his kids he should take his glasses and look around he just might see there is more to life than films money and talk shows. I must say I agree with Peggie our kids love us for who we are and not what we are so why Jonny do you have to be so holier than thou good guy or not you still like people to know what you have done are you get someone to tell them good acted people never change . Charlot
How nice it must be for jonny depp to have an Island of his own and being green to wow must be all the sailing he did in Pirates just love to know one thing why dose he not move there for good by doing so he could do as he wants to do are as he says he wants too and that is keep his family life out of the spot light all I can say good for him If he ever gets sick of it I have it dont mind second hand Islands
Is Jonny Depp going through a mid-life crisis? Lets face it the island is in the caribbean for god's sake, the sun shines there all year round so he won't need to heat the house but just in case the sun is not shining all the hot air that comes out of his mouth these days would ba an acceptable alternative. P.S. I agree wholeheartedly with Peggies comments. Pauline - Blackpool UK
