Actress makes her singing debut in new film
Tuesday, 15 July 2008
Kate Hudson will don her dancing shoes as she joins Nicole Kidman in the movie musical Nine, a studio rep confirms.
Hudson, 29, who plays a fashion magazine reporter on assignment in Italy, has musical moves in her genes: mom Goldie Hawn was a go-go dancer on Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In. An original song, ‘Cinema Italiano,’ was added to the film's lineup for Hudson.
Rob Marshall, who will direct the adaptation of the Tony-winning Broadway musical, calls Hudson's skills as a singer and dancer ‘revelatory.’
Hudson, who has spent the summer hanging out with new beau Lance Armstrong, starts shooting in the U.K. in October.
Her costar is new mom Kidman, who gave birth to daughter Sunday Rose on July 7.
The casting news was first reported by the New York Post.
