Jailbird wants Mitch Winehouse's blessing when he's reunited with his singer wife

Amy Winehouse's husband Blake Fielder-Civil is being held on remand in Pentonville Prison

Amy Winehouse’s husband Blake Fielder-Civil is said to have begged her dad Mitch to let him stay in her life.

Friends and family have been urging the 24-year-old singer to dump the jailbird, who's being held in Pentonville Prison awaiting sentencing on charges of GBH and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Blake, 26, is thought to have used 1 of his 2 weekly calls to beg his father-in-law for help.

‘He was distraught when he spoke to Mitch,’ a source tells the Daily Star Sunday. ‘He pledged to clean up and said he would keep Amy clean too. He knows it’s his responsibility as a husband to keep her away from anything that could kill her.

‘He was desperate for an assurance that, on his release, he would get the chance to be with Amy again – and he knows Mitch is the key to making that happen.

‘Thankfully for Blake, Mitch agreed. He knows his daughter loves Blake and for that reason alone he has granted him one last chance to save his marriage.’

Last week, Mitch, 57, vowed to get his son-in-law into rehab when he leaves jail.

‘I would say it’s last chance saloon if Blake comes out and they go back to doing what they were doing before,’ he said.

Blake will be sentenced later this month. If found guilty, he faces 5 years behind bars.
