Couple say they can't wait to tie the knot

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have set a wedding date

Ellen DeGeneres has revealed that she and girlfriend Portia de Rossi have started planning their dream wedding.

The couple announced they were engaged last month, shortly after the California Supreme Court overruled the state's 8-year ban on gay marriage.

‘Yes, we have set a wedding date,’ Ellen said at the Daytime Emmy Awards.

The 50-year-old talk show host has been dating Ally McBeal star Portia, 35, since December 2004.

But she admits it's harder to organise than she anticipated.

‘Planning a wedding is very stressful,’ she says. ‘It's crazy. My gardener is now invited.’

The couple haven't confirmed when the ceremony will take place.

Ellen received her fourth Outstanding Talk Show Host award at the event on Friday.
