Kristin Davis says she's nothing like Charlotte York

Actress says she's never obsessed over marriage like her Sex And The City character

Positively glowing, Kristin Davis
Kristin Davis says she's happy to be single

Once and for all separating fact from fiction, Kristin Davis has made it clear that unlike her marriage obsessed Sex and the City character Charlotte York, she is happy being single.

"[In my twenties], I thought I'd never get married. I guess I was right!” Davis laughed as she addressed a crowd at the SKYY Vodka screening of the movie in Hollywood on Thursday.

"I grew up in the South so all everyone talked about was marriage," said the actress, who dressed very much like her sophisticated Upper East Side fictional counterpart in sky-high Christian Louboutin shoes and a sparkling silver and black cocktail dress. "But all I wanted was to move to New York and do theater. And in my thirties, I was busy doing the show so I just didn't have time."

Show creator and movie director Michael Patrick King, who was also at the screening, offered an example of Davis's independence, citing a recent holiday party filled with couples. "Kristin showed up alone and she was completely comfortable and happy," he said.

Now in her forties, Davis admits that over the years, the lines between the show and her life have blurred a little bit. "In the beginning I had a list of Charlotte traits and a list of mine, but over the years it's sort of blended."

As for marriage and romance in the future, she offers the simple response, "I'm open."
