Paul goes on holiday after completing split from Heather

Less than a week after his split with Heather Mills was finalized, Paul McCartney got in some R&R – dashing off with Nancy Shevell for a secluded weekend on the coast of Antigua.

Since Wednesday, the former Beatle and the socialite have stayed in a $2,375-a-night two-bedroom suite with a kitchen and beachside balcony at Jumby Bay, a posh resort on a 300-acre private island. The couple have spent their days taking beach strolls, reading paperbacks by the pool and even biking around the city of St. John's on Antigua.

But was this a romantic getaway? It depends on whom you ask. One Jumby Bay employee tells PEOPLE, "They seemed more like friends. They were very comfortable together, but I did not get the impression that they were a romantic couple."

Another onlooker disagrees. There were definitely sparks between them," the observer tells PEOPLE. "They seem to be having a very happy and relaxed time together in paradise. They seem not to have a care in the world."
