Tobey Maguire is a dad

Spiderman star has a baby daughter

Spider-Man star Tobey Maguire and his fiancée, jewelry designer Jennifer Meyer, welcomed the birth of their first child, a daughter, on Nov. 9 in Los Angeles, a source close to the couple confirms to PEOPLE.

"Let's just say this is truly the best time of my life," Meyer, 29, told USA Today recently. "I'm walking on air. I'm getting married, starting a family and have an amazing company." (Jennifer Meyer Jewelry fans include Jennifer Aniston, Kate Hudson, Lindsay Lohan and Nicole Kidman.)

Maguire, 31, is equally thrilled about Meyer's success. "I'm so happy for Jen," the actor, who's been busy filming Spider-Man 3, told the newspaper. "It's been a really exciting year watching her creative process come to life."

One piece of jewelry Meyer didn't create? Her engagement ring. "I didn't design this one," she said. "Tobey found it, and I love it, love it, love it!"

Meyer, the daughter of Universal Studios president Ron Meyer, and Maguire began dating in early 2003. "They both are similar because they are very guarded around people they don't know," a friend of Meyer told PEOPLE that August.

Since then, the couple have maintained a low profile, preferring Lakers games to nightclubs. "She's not a scenester," a pal said of Meyer.

Maguire is "blissfully in love," Gary Ross, who directed him in Seabiscuit, told PEOPLE. Meyer "is a great girl. They have a wonderful relationship."

In October, Meyer’s family hosted an A-list baby shower by the pool of the family’s Malibu estate, which was attended by Aniston, Hudson, Moore, Courteney Cox and Bryce Dallas Howard, also pregnant with her first child.

The couple has not announced a wedding date.
