Eva Longoria injured on Desperate Housewives set

Star bruises ribs after she slips on stairs

Eva Longoria

A stumble on the set of Desperate Housewives sent Eva Longoria to the hospital, her publicist said.

"Eva slipped on one of the stairs coming out of her trailer," the rep, Liza Anderson, told the Associated Press. "Nothing is broken, but her ribs are very bruised."

The incident will not require Longoria – who last week split amicably from her boyfriend of nearly two years, San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker – to take time off from her work on the show.

Nor was this the first on-set injury for Longoria, 31, who plays Gabrielle Solis on the ABC show. In August 2005 she required emergency medical attention after being struck in the head by a piece of equipment while shooting a scene on location at Pasadena City College.

And in April, Teri Hatcher suffered an eye injury when a light bulb exploded on the Housewives set. "Glass lodged in my right eye and proceeded to scratch my cornea," Hatcher told PEOPLE.

"I was taken to a wonderful eye doctor, and now am wearing a most glamorous eye patch over the right half of my face. I like to look at the positive and the good news is, the cornea is the fastest healing tissue in the body."
