David Hasselhoff sounds off

The Hoff tells all about his Botox experiences

For David Hasselhoff, it's been a year of ups and more than a few downs. Although the former Baywatch star, 54, was back in the spotlight as a judge on America's Got Talent, he also dealt with a nasty split from wife Pamela Bach, 43, a shaving accident that left his arm in a brace for seven weeks and tabloid rumors of public misbehavior.

In an exclusive interview, the man now referred to by many (including himself) as The Hoff sounded off to PEOPLE about plastic surgery, Pamela Anderson and more.

On whether he's had plastic surgery:
"I've never had anything like that. I have had Botox, everyone has. It's a shot. It takes out the frown. I haven't had that in a year. I take pride in that. I look great. I am going to keep this natural until I have to. I like Clint Eastwood, he waited until he was 75. He looks damn good."

On his former Baywatch costar Pamela Anderson:
"I love Pam. She's beautiful and smart. I don't know why she's messing with her bust size. It's ridiculous. She doesn't have to. I last saw her at a Superbowl party. She introduced me to people saying, 'This is the guy that made me famous.' Then another guy came up to us and she said, 'No, this is the guy who made me famous.' It was Hugh Hefner. We both just roared laughing.

On whether he'll wear the red Baywatch trunks again:
"Yes! I hope so. They're in development with the movie, and hopefully by the time we get it done, I won't be, like, running down the beach with a walker in my hand. But I notice there's a lot of lifeguards now that are still very active in their 60s."

On whether he would still run shirtless down the beach:
"Yeah. I would flab a little bit, but not much."

On his meeting with Princess Diana in 1993:
"I felt like she was little girl caught up in this whirlwind. I saw this little girl who just wanted to be a person, but (was) caught in this shell.… She was smitten with me since I am so tall. I was smitten with her since she was so tall." Were there sparks? "Absolutely."

On fatherhood to daughters Hayley and Taylor-Ann:
"They're the two most important people in my life. And if I can keep their respect and keep their hearts in a good place, then I know that I've done well. And I've got them there. And I've always had them there."

On what he wants on his gravestone:
" 'Been there, done that.' I was gonna say, 'Hoff and Running.' I was actually thinking of being buried under my Hollywood star, and then being buried like this (he looks up with frozen face). So people could look down and watch me decompose, you know. (Seriously though,) I think it'll just say 'Good friend, good father' – and, 'Had a blast.' "
