Kate Middleton and Prince William have arrived in New Zealand with baby Prince George to start their official tour of the country.

The couple touched down in Wellington on Monday and gave the world a good look at 8-month-old George as they emerged from their plane.

Kate, 32, looked smart in a buttoned red coat and hat and carried her cute blond son in her arms.

Little George still seemed to have plenty of energy after the long-haul flight and wriggled about while dad William, 31, kept glancing at him.

It's thought that George will join his parents for some engagements during their trip but it will depend on his mood at the time.

The family have been joined by nanny Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo for the 3-week tour - which will cover New Zealand and Australia - so George will be in safe hands when his mum and dad are busy.

Kate and Wills attended a reception at Wellington's Government House after their grand arrival and were treated to a traditional Maori ceremonial welcome.
